Ubisoft has announced The Crew, a new online action-driving game developed for next-gen consoles.

The Crew features a massive open world where players can drive “from city to suburb, county to county, state to state, coast to summit”, and literally anywhere in the United States of America.

The game hopes to redefine the meaning of freedom in driving games, and will allow to player to drive any where he wants in a living, breathing world, populated by other players. The Crew’s persistent online world if filled with other players driving around, so every car on the street can either be an ally or rival waiting to strike.

Cooperation between player is encouraged, and players can join their motors together to accomplish collective objectives. But if you prefer to drive alone into the sunset that’s possible too.

“We want to give players a driving experience that goes way beyond the classic circuit-based racing games and really captures the boundless sense of freedom of driving across the U.S.,” said, Julian Gerighty, creative director at Ubisoft. “Our teams are harnessing the power of next-generation platforms to make The Crew a challenging, immersive and non-stop world that can be shared by millions of players. This is a brand new driving game experience unlike anything that’s come before it.”
