During the live Xbox One event yesterday, Microsoft has revealed that no less than 15 exclusive games will be released during the first year of the console, including 8 completely new franchises.

“Microsoft has more titles in development now than at any time in Xbox’s history,” said Phil Spencer, corporate VP of Microsoft Game Studios. “Eight of which are brand new franchises.”

We already know that one of these IPs is Remedy’s Quantum Break, but now Spencer reveals that Rare is working on a brand new game for the next-gen console. Speaking with Polygon, Spencer describes Rare’s new IP as “historic”, stating that it “can play a real important role on Xbox One.”

Rare is responsible for many popular IPs like Perfect Dark, Banjo-Kazooie, Conker, and Killer Instinct. The studio’s new IP will be presented during Microsoft’s pre-E3 conference on June 10. Stay tuned.
