Codemasters has unveiled all the details about the multiplayer mode in GRID 2, which will be an entirely separate affair from the game’s single-player experience. It offers multiple modes, challenges, rivals and many social features. Read all about it below.

Game Modes

GRID 2 has 6 different game modes: Race, Endurance, Drift, Touge, Checkpoint, Face Off and Time Attack. There are also the Global Challenge events that update weekly over the RaceNet, which includes Overtake and Power Lap. Players will compete with up to 12 other racer and earn XP, buy more cars and customize them with a new editor which offers up to 6 billion different combinations.

Rivals

Each week the RaceNet will automatically choose a n international rival for you to race against, based on your abilities and activities in the game. Beating this rival’s best times will grant you more XP and in-game money (and ever-lasting bragging rights).

You can also choose your own rival from your list of firend or previous opponents, or select a custom rival based on specific parameters including event type or geographical location.

A new anti-griefing system also makes sure to separate those who like a clean race and the more aggressive racers, so everyone can enjoy the racing experience they like.

Social Features

Players who feel the need to show-off their spectacular driving skills (or incredible crashes) will be able to quickly and easily upload replay videos to YouTube and the RaceNet, and even share their in-game achievements on Facebook or Twitter.

GRID 2 will race into retail for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on May 28 in North America and May 31 across Europe. Here are some multiplayer screenshots for you to enjoy.
