A trailer for what seems to be a new IP aired during last night’s VGAs, showing a disoriented man crawling through a hospital turned bloodbath, trying to save himself as find out what the hell is going on. The man in the video never shows his face, and is clearly missing his left arm, hence the game’s title – The Phantom Pain.
This new game is being developed by Moby Dick Studios, a small studio located in Stockholm, Sweden and founded by a man called Joakim Mogren. According to the website, the studio’s main goal is “to deliver an uncompromising, exciting and touching game experience to people all around the globe.”
But there is something strange, and a little suspicious about this new studio and title. As the good people of NeoGAF pointed out, Joakim can be an anagram for Kojima – the famous creator and director of the Metal Gear franchise. There are actually quite a lot of clues during the video that suggest The Phantom Pain is non-other than Metal Gear Solid 5, or some other Metal Gear game.
The mysterious trailer is right here, so why don’t you watch it and judge for yourself?
