Yes, after many moons of speculation and rumors, Microsoft has finally confirmed there will indeed be another Xbox (like we didn’t know that already).

The confirmation came from Windows Live general manager Brian Hall during a podcast on The Verge last week, where he was discussing the launch of Outlook.com:

“We did this- we’ve had Hotmail for- and operated Hotmail for about 16 years. We obviously have Exchange, and Outlook that people use at work,” Hall said. “We just decided it was time to do something new and bring the best from each of those- put them together and release it right in time for the new wave of products that we have coming out with Windows 8, with the new version of Office, with the new Windows Phone and the new Xbox (emphasis added).”

A bit underwhelming, we know.

The new “Xbox 720”, as it is known across the internet, was the center of many rumors in the past year, including one that claim it will have a Blu-Ray drive and a built in Kinect sensor.
