2K Games has announced that Irrational Games’ Bioshock Infinite will not be released this October after all, but is pushed back all the way to 2013; February 26, 2013 to be exacted.

“When we announced the release date of BioShock Infinite in March, we felt pretty good about the timing. Since then, we’ve uncovered opportunities to make Infinite into something even more extraordinary,” said creative director Ken Levine.

Therefore, to give our talented team the time they need to deliver the best Infinite possible, we’ve decided to move the game’s release to February.”

“What does this mean for you? It means a bit more waiting, but more importantly, it means an even better BioShock Infinite. The great can be made greater, and we owe it to both ourselves and to you, our fans, to take this opportunity,” he added.

In case you were hoping to see some new gameplay footage of the game during this year’s E3, you might be disappointed. Levine has also confirmed Bioshock Infinite will not be shown in any big convention this summer. Too bad.

Originally set for an October release, Bioshock Infinite will now grace the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on February 23, 2013.
