Finally responding to vicious rumors about Prey 2 imminent cancellation, Bethesda has reassured us and the great public that Prey 2 is still in development, but won’t make it’s 2012 deadline. According to Bethesda’s official blog, Prey 2 will not be released in 2012, as previously planned, but is delayed due to not meeting the company’s “quality standards”.

“Prey 2 has shown great promise and we regret disappointing our fans. We have made a substantial investment in game development to deliver the experience fans want. We are determined only to release the AAA game that fans rightfully expect, and are unwilling to compromise our quality standards to meet a release schedule,” reads the blog.

Prey 2 has been announced over a year ago, and since was shown behind closed doors in several conventions (including Gamescom, where we has a change to see it in action). The game does show a lot of promised, and we are glad to learn it has not been canned.

Prey 2 is now scheduled for launch at an unknown date for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
