Grasshopper Manufacture, the studio behind No More Heroes, Shadows of the Damned and the up-coming Lollipop Chainsaw, has announced its latest project – Killer is Dead. And not, it is not a Killer 7 sequel.
The game’s main character is an “Executioner” who travels around the world and puts a stop to “S level” criminals with the business end of his sword. Grasshopper games, like No More Heroes, have an fondness for sharp objects, so we can expect gameplay to be focused on swordplay, but there are some “new systems” in play as well.
Andriasang is reporting that while Killer is Dead is being developed by Grasshopper Manufacture, Kadokawa Games will publish it and Suda 51 himself is residing as executive directoris in charge of the game’s scenario.
Key words for the project are Moon and Earth,” “Brilliant Game,” and “Love.” Love is also an important theme in Killer is Dead, since the main character is fighting to protect someone he loves. The idea of “How far can you protect someone” is central to the story, according to Suda.
Killer is Dead is expect to release for the Xbox 360 and PS3 during 2013.
