It is now official: Blizzard has announced that everyone can go back to hell on May 15, when Diablo III is finally released. You can pre-purchase the digital edition of the game now on, so you “can be ready to play the minute the servers go live”.

“After many years of hard work by our development team and months of beta testing by hundreds of thousands of dedicated players around the world, we’re now in the homestretch,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We look forward to putting the final polish on Diablo III over the next two months and delivering the ultimate action-RPG experience to gamers worldwide starting on May 15.”

Blizzard also took the opportunity to remind us about the game’s Collector’s Edition, which includes (among other things) a copy of Diablo II and its expansion, Lord of Destruction. If you are a WoW fan, remember you can get a free copy of Diablo III (and some more in-games goodies) with a purchase of an World of Warcraft Annual Pass, but only if you do it before May 1.
