According to PSM3, the yet unannounced forth installment in the God of War franchise will feature online co-op – a first in the series. The magazine claims that the series’ protagonist Kratos and his dead brother Deimos team up to escape the afterlife together (It seems Kratos does that a lot).

The full rumor, straight from the magazine (thanks to Sillegamer), reads: “Why is it hot? It’s bringing double Kratos to the series. GOW4 was confirmed to PSM3 mid-2011 by a reliable source, and rumours point to a multiplayer twist. Mad idea? Online co-op with a (possibly) dead Kratos and (very) dead brother Deimos teaming up to escape the afterlife.”

God of War IV is rumored to be released in late 2012, and developer Sony Santa Monica did post a job listing calling a “senior online programmer” to join the God of War team. Whether or not these rumors are true remain to be seen, but it is very unlikely that we’ve seen the last of Kratos and the rest of the Olympian gods.
