According to a rumor on OXM (Official XBOX Magazine), the development studio People Can Fly (Painkiller, Bulletstorm) is currently developing a trilogy of prequels for Gears of War.
The rumor appeared on the rumor section of the magazine, stating that “Gears of War will live on, of course, but in what form? A prequel trilogy developed by Epic-owned People Can Fly (Bulletstorm) as a likely scenario.”
People Can Fly is owned by Epic Games and was the studio behind the PC version of the original Gears of War game, so it is possible the studio is working on the next Gears game. Plus, it is very unlikely that Epic Games will let the franchise die out anytime soon, and since Delta Squad’s story was concluded in Gears 3, a prequel is the logical next step.
