The new Frostbite 2 engine will be released with Battlefield 3 (probably sometime towards the end of the year). From screenshots of the game it’s possible to see that the new engine will be able to handle light and shadow effects. In addition you’re able to see a lot of emphasis on dust and particle effects, which are also an element which effect the setting of the mood. Enjoy!
