In 30 days, help is coming. This knowledge is the only thing keeping Jacob Solomon and his group going. The world is buried beneath a never-ending blizzard brought on by a devastating asteroid collision, and its up to you to keep your group warm, fed and alive until rescue arrives.
This is the premise of Impact Winter, a new survival game heading to the PC on April 12. As Jacob, you will brave the deadly cold outside your group’s shelter to scavenge for food and supplies, and even attempt to lower the Rescue Timer. Your action and choices can boost the radio signal transmitted by your robot companion Ako-Light, and ensure help will arrive sooner.
As you explore the frozen wasteland known as the Void, you’ll come across many different locations buried beneath the snow. Overall, developers Mojo Bones promise around 23 hours of exploration, not including the above-ground map.
While you directly control Jacob himself, you can issue orders and roles to the members of your group. Each of them has a specific skill that will help you across multiple playthroughs. Each time you start a new game, you’ll need to select a path represented by a team member. Complete this character’s story, and you’ll unlock more useful skills. For example, Blane can craft traps, lock picks and weapons, and Maggie can upgrade your makeshift base.
Impact Winter is coming to PC on April 12, with a console version arriving later in 2017.
